EHES Curriculum

EHES has two curricular focuses:

  • literacy first instruction, and

  • a science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) program.

We also offer the district’s first dyslexia program.

Literacy-first focus

A literacy-first focus makes the learning accessible to all our students, regardless of abilities. We use evidence-based practices to teach both students and teachers in the Science of Reading. Using a structured literacy program, students use a systematic approach to learn the sounds of letters, the root of words and the alphabetic code.

STEM focus

Our STEM focus gives every student a hands-on experiential learning opportunity. EHES will have the most up-to-date STEM Lab allowing students to build robots, dissect animals and touch their experiments rather than watch from afar.

Dyslexia program

EHES houses the district’s first Dyslexia program where structured literacy teaches students to read. Unlike other dyslexia programs, our dyslexia students will receive proper therapy and education plans while integrated into classrooms with their peers. Dyslexia therapy details.
